| In Praise of Mevagissey
A writer once said: 'There is probably nowhere in England a finer specimen of the typical fishing village than Mevagissey. The little harbour with its pier and breakwater; the immense cliffs on either side; the crowded fishing boats; the crowd of gulls that half obscure the sky; the houses stuck in all sorts of ways on the cliffs, or crammed together in narrow streets on the little level behind the harbour, all combine to form a picture that lingers long in the memory' |

In the incredibly narrow and attractive streets of this old fishing village the fish cellars of the past have been converted into the shops and restaurants of today and retain a most relaxing old world charm. There is excellent fishing from the extended lighthouse
quay. |
